ABOUT US

Mission Statement
The NAACP insures the political, educational, social and economic equality of minority groups and citizens; achieves equality of rights and eliminates race prejudice among the citizens of the United States; removes all barriers of racial discrimination through the democratic processes; seeks to enact and enforce federal, state and local laws securing civil rights; informs the public of the adverse effects
of racial discrimination and seeks its elimination; and educates people of their constitutional rights and to take all lawful action in furtherance of these principles.

Presently the NAACP pursues its goals by working along four main lines:

   • Using the state and federal courts to secure justice and level barriers.

   • Working for the enactment of national, state and local laws to protect civil rights

      and ban racial discrimination.

   • Carrying an education program in an effort to create a climate of opinion in favor

of equal rights and human brotherhood.

   • Engaging in selective buying campaigns, picketing and direct-action programs.

NAACP History

For more than one hundred years, the NAACP built and grew on the collective courage of thousands of

people. People of all races, nationalities and faiths united on one premise - that all men and women are

created equal.

The nation's oldest civil rights organization has changed America's history. Despite violence, intimidation and hostile government policies, the NAACP and its grass-roots membership persevered.   Click here to learn more about the history of our NAACP.
